Well now that Google have removed the Free Google Apps Account option, the cheapest account you can get is $5 per user per month. This has left people seeking alternatives such as Microsoft’s Live Domains but there really is no need, you can in fact grab yourself a Free Google Apps Account.
The first thing you need to do is sign up for a free Gmail account (if you don’t have one already) then make your way to Google AppEngine to sign in with your Gmail Account.
Once signed in you need to create an AppEngine Application by choosing a name for it, this can be anything you like.
When your AppEngine Application is setup open the Dashboard and choose Application Settings, scroll down and select Add Domain to associate your domain with the AppEngine application you have created.
After following the simple steps above you will have access to a special url to get a free Google Apps Account. The Free Account you get is limited to 1 user, but this should fine for most people.
This workaround for a Free Google Apps Account may not work for long so I suggest getting an account as soon as possible.
